Support The Twickenham Festival 2009 Charity

We are delighted to announce that the TWICKENHAM UNITED REFORMED CHURCH is the chosen charity for this year’s Twickenham Festival.

Update

This year, £6,480 was raised - a record amount for the Festival - it came from the Festival raffle ticket sales throughout the ten-day Festival and a substantial donation from the Rugby Football Union, following the Strawberry Hill Family Fun day, organised by the RFU and part of the Festival.

Building up our hopes

At the corner of Twickenham Green, the buildings of Twickenham United Reformed Church (TURC) urgently need bringing up to date. Now 175 years old, they no longer meet the needs of the lively, outward-looking church members, or of the many other organisations from the local community that also use the premises. These groups include Scout, Cub, Brownie and Beaver packs, Townswomen’s Guilds, the Trefoil Guild, a hearing support group, youth groups, the local branch of MIND and two choirs.

Planning approval has been granted for refurbishment plans. All that is needed now is funds - about £750,000! The people of TURC are thrilled to have been chosen as the charity of the Twickenham Festival and hope you will all support this exciting community project.
